Job Description

We are currently hiring a Product Development Laboratory Technologist I in Boston, MA.

A Product Development Lab Technologist is responsible for executing functions within the Product Development Lab as directed by Laboratory Operations Managers. Key responsibilities include:

• Blending and processing prototypes within the Boston Beer portfolio
• Coordinating shipping and receiving of samples for internal and external stakeholders
• Lab upkeep and maintenance
• Inventory auditing and maintenance

Technologists must maintain a safe, clean, and efficient lab environment, understanding how to operate all equipment safely, including analytical, blending, processing, and safety equipment. Effective communication with colleagues via email, messaging, and in-person, along with attending meetings onsite and virtually, is essential.

What You'll Brew:

Core Responsibilities:

• Operate all lab equipment for creating sample prototypes, including analytical, processing, blending, and safety equipment
• Complete Product Development Work Requests, coordinate with team members, and communicate capacity constraints
• Support shipping of prototype samples using FedEx, UPS, and other portals
• Collaborate with brewing teams on equipment operation for blending and processing

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Boston Beer's internal formula system
• Complete lab-related projects such as ingredient inventory auditing, cleaning, equipment calibration, and lab startup/shutdown
• Lift and move cases (~30 lbs), and stand for extended periods in the lab

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in Life Science or Food Science
• At least 1 year of experience in a life sciences lab
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Beverage industry experience

Level: 9

Salary range: $19.42 - $40.14/hour, depending on experience, skills, and location.
