HNI Corporation is seeking a Product Development Engineer, Tailored Products to join the HNI Workplace Furnishings team in Muscatine, IA. You will contribute to design, development, and improvement of products under guidance from a mentor or manager.

The role focuses on collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet quality standards, cost targets, and timelines while applying project management principles and creating detailed solid models and technical drawings.

Qualifications

• Assist design/re-design of products to meet specs and quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage cost, quality, and timelines.
• Apply project management: duration estimation, scope management, concurrent activities.
• Create specifications and components into detailed solid models and drawings.
• Conduct product testing and report results and recommendations.
• Support goals for trade and environmental initiatives.
• Participate in activities to help the organization succeed.

Responsibilities

• Participate in engineering functions supporting design/re-design of product and product components aligned with established quality standards and product specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams to ensure successful implementation of product projects, focusing on cost containment/reduction, quality enhancement, and established timelines.
• Apply project management principles, including active duration estimation, scope management, and coordination of concurrent activities.
• Apply and/or define product specifications and components to the creation of detailed solid models and technical drawings, adhering to best-in-class engineering communication standards.
• Conduct product testing and evaluation to validate product specification requirements are achieved. Complete reporting requirements and recommendations as required.
• Participate and support project goals identified to meet trade and environmental impact initiatives.
• Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.
