Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participate in engineering functions supporting design/re-design of product and components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet cost, quality, and timelines.
• Apply project management principles including duration estimation and scope management.
• Define product specifications and create detailed solid models and drawings.
• Conduct product testing and evaluation to verify specifications.
• Report findings and recommendations from testing and evaluation.
• Support trade and environmental impact initiatives.

What We Need:

We are looking for a Product Development Engineer, Tailored Products to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team.

The Product Development Engineer 1 is responsible for the performance of limited tasks associated with the design, development, and improvement of products. This role generally operates under the supervision and guidance of an assigned mentor or manager.

What You Will Do:

• Participate in engineering functions supporting design/re-design of product and product components aligned with established quality standards and product specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams to ensure successful implementation of product projects, focusing on cost containment/reduction, quality enhancement, and established timelines.
• Apply project management principles, including active duration estimation, scope management, and coordination of concurrent activities.
• Apply and/or define product specifications and components to the creation of detailed solid models and technical drawings, adhering to best-in-class engineering communication standards.
• Conduct product testing and evaluation to validate product specification requirements are achieved. Complete reporting requirements and recommendations as required.
• Participate and support project goals identified to meet trade and environmental impact initiatives.
• Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.

What You Have:

• Individuals with a High School Diploma or equivalent - at least 10 years of transferrable experience with engineering concepts and applications required.
• Individuals with Associates Degree in Engineering or related field - at least 5 years of transferrable experience with engineering concepts and applications required.
• Individuals with Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field - at least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
