Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI, is seeking a Product Development Engineer specializing in Power Supply System Calibration to develop electrical charging system calibration for gas engines, EVs and hybrids, within the powertrain control module. You will calibrate alternator control torque, engine idle stability, and voltage set points, releasing calibrations into Ford's system software.

This role requires hands-on experience with CAN/CAN-FD AUTOSAR, MATLAB/Simulink, and tools like ATI Vision,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years in product development, preferably calibration.
  • Experience calibrating electrical control systems in automotive industry using ATI Vision and INCA.
  • Experience collecting CAN/LIN data with Vector CANalyzer and Intrepid tools.
  • Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD AUTOSAR and cybersecurity.
  • Familiar with CANalyzer and CANoe testing, CAPL scripts.
  • Familiar with MATLAB modeling, code generation, debugging and model testing.
  • Experience may be concurrent.

Product Development Engineer – Power Supply System Calibration position offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI). Develop electrical charging system calibration in the powertrain control module for gas engines, EVs and Hybrids (Low voltage side) including developing calibration for alternator control torque manager, engine idle stability for electrical transients, alternator voltage set point controls, and alternator diagnostics. Release the calibration into Ford system software. Support powertrain development trips for engine calibration by modifying alternator calibration to assist in meeting engine performance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related Engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience in Product Development preferably in Calibration
  • Experience performing electrical control system calibration in the automotive industry using ATI vision and INCA
  • Experience gathering vehicle CAN and LIN network data using Vector CANalyzer and Intrepid tools
  • Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD AUTOSAR and Cyber securities
  • Familiar with CANalyzer and CANoe tool for testing, and CAPL script for field debugging
  • Familiar with Matlab modeling, code generation, debugging and model testing
  • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related Engineering field
  • Proficiency with modeling tools (ex. Matlab, Simulink)

This position is a range salary grades 6-8 and ranges from $74,300-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
