Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Allen Park, Michigan, invites you to join our Product Development team as an Engine Calibration Engineer. This hybrid role blends home-based work with on-site collaboration to deliver advanced calibration features for emissions, fuel and ignition timing, and OBD systems.

You will plan and execute feature development, coordinate with lead engineers, build detailed project plans, and drive milestones to ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in calibration or related occupation.
  • Experience calibrating fuel, air, spark and valve timing to control engine emissions.
  • Experience evaluating engine operating modes and OBD system performance.
  • Ability to analyze emission/OBD data and calibrate monitors to reduce false positives.
  • Experience with ATI, VDR, PT Diag, and fault-insertion tools; lab emissions testing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute a control feature development (injection timing/air/fuel/spark, emissions, OBD).
  • Develop detailed project plans and manage sub-system optimization in vehicle or dynamometer environments.
  • Coordinate with lead calibration engineer and technical specialists; communicate and resolve issues.
  • Oversee vehicle homologation development and sign-off using emissions labs and remote sites.
  • Domestic travel up to 10% to support program milestones.

What you'll be able to do:

Engine Calibration Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Allen Park, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite.Plan and execute a control feature (injection timing/air/fuel/spark, emissions, OBD) development. Complete feature sign off in line with company procedures. Operate as liaison with lead calibration engineer and technical specialists. Develop detailed project plans that embrace all elements of the feature development. Execute sub-system optimization in either a vehicle or dynamometer environment. Manage the project to ensure all milestones and objectives are achieved. Manage the definition, communication, and resolution of issues with internal stakeholders. Vehicle homologation development and sign off through use of emissions lab, powertrain cells, and remote sites (Denver, Raco, Eglin, Beckly). Domestic Travel Required up to 10%.

You’ll have...

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

  1. 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Calibrating fuel, air, spark, and valve timing strategies to control engine operations and reduce emissions.
  2. 2. Evaluating engine operating modes including cold start, warmup, tip-in, acceleration, altitude variation to process impacts on emissions and OBD system performance.
  3. 3. Gathering and analyzing emission and OBD data to calibrate the OBD monitors so they are capable of detecting failed systems while minimizing false positives.
  4. 4. Utilizing ATI for calibration development and experience using ATI.
  5. 5. Using ATI, VDR, PT Diag, and Fault insertion tools to calibrate and DV the OBD system.
  6. 6. Using lab facilities to measure emissions.
  7. 7. Creating workplans to meet program timing, escalating issues affecting deliverables, and developing conformance plans to meet program milestone objectives.

We are offering a salary of$125,362.00 - $166,200.00/yr.
