Job summary

Morse Manufacturing Co. Inc. is seeking a Product Development Engineer to lead engineering efforts, translate customer needs into practical, safe, and compliant solutions, and drive product performance and cost goals.

This hands-on role collaborates with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to move projects forward, manage SolidWorks and PDM, coordinate testing, documentation, and product changes, and support custom equipment opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years in mechanical design, product development, or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience leading projects and coordinating cross-functional work.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD and a PDM environment.
• Experience in manufacturing involving fabricated, machined, welded, and assembled products.
• Experience supporting CE certification and product compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritize engineering work based on company, production, and customer needs.
• Design new products and improve existing products from concept through production release.
• Create models, drawings, bills of materials, specs, manuals, labels, and other product documentation.
• Maintain SolidWorks and PDM systems, including file organization, revisions, approvals, and released records.
• Manage engineering changes (ECRs, OSDS, ECNs) and coordinate approvals.
• Plan and support prototypes, testing, verification, validation, risk assessments, and CE documentation as required.
• Work with Production to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate technical work with suppliers, contractors, interns, and other resources.
• Prepare quotations for specials including material, labor, engineering, components, testing, and documentation costs.
• Provide customer technical support by email and phone.
