A DIRECT HIRE job opportunity is available through Storm Search. We are searching for a Product Development Engineer in the Greater Kansas City area.

This position focuses on engineering and development from initial concept to a fully engineered product that is ready for commercial production in a fast-paced environment to achieve speed to market. Concepts may be developed based on internally defined or customer driven requirements, using new product ideas or modifications to existing products. Develop 3D models of high complexity that are both aesthetically accurate and technically robust using SolidWorks CAD software.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop complex 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Lead projects from concept through development, prototyping, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, manufacturing, tooling) to optimize designs.
• Create and update product documentation including BOMs, SOPs, reports, and cost analyses.
• Conduct DFMEAs and participate in project meetings to support product design improvements.
• Interface with customers to support technical needs and product solutions.
• Interpret customer specifications and manage product launch activities.
• Support plant operations with manufacturing considerations and tooling evaluations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Technology required.
• 2–5 years’ experience in plastic product development; dispensing systems a plus.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and drafting for multi-component plastic assemblies.
• Knowledge of injection molding, tooling, manufacturing processes, and part-cost evaluation.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools (FEA, Moldflow, CFD) preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, including internationally.
