Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Project Leader to drive planning for new products and improvements. You will coordinate across engineering disciplines, manage budgets, and ensure on-time delivery while aligning with cost and quality goals.

Requires 8+ years in packaging engineering, strong SPC/quality understanding, and the ability to lead diverse teams and communicate effectively with clients and internal partners.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; packaging discipline preferred.
  • 8+ years in injection and blow molding equipment, tooling, and processing.
  • Deep technical knowledge of industry trends and customer applications.
  • Travel 50% to support projects and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning process for new products and improvements, focusing on cost, dates, resources and quality.
  • Provide technical leadership across engineering projects and coordinate with business functions.
  • Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Develop and implement resource plans to ensure successful project completion.
  • Manage budgets and monitor capital and expense needs for responsibility area.
  • Guide a team that may not report directly to you and adapt to changing requirements.

Position Overview:

Leads the planning process of new products and/or improvements to existing products, focusing on project concerns such as cost, completion dates, resource allocation, quality/reliability, resource allocation, budget allocation, etc.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ability to run multiple high-profile projects simultaneously - EachPD will have specific accts that they will be assigned too, however as projects arise, they will be given other projects from smaller customers if need
  • Provides technical leadership to various engineering projects and coordinate across all disciplines while giving work direction and inputs to business functional groups and provide leadership in resolving complex technical issues
  • Must have excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form - As the person who iscoordinating all aspects of the project communication isincredibly important.
  • Develops and implements resource plans in order to ensure the proper resources are allocated for successful completion of the project(s)
  • Must be able to manage both internal and external customers
  • Must have a good understanding ofSPC and quality practices - As the project leader you willreceive data from the bottles throughout the project. ThePD will need tointerpret the data and make decisions on the path moving forward
  • Must have the ability to lead a team of individuals that will not be reporting directly to you
  • Must have a good understanding of EBM, ISBM, IBM, and IM technologies
  • Plastic processing experience is a plus
  • Tooling build experience a plus
  • Computer skills are very important... Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, is a must... CAD background is a plus
  • Capable of developing and managing project budgets
  • Ability to work within a procedure-based organization but capable of extending outside those boundaries if required
  • Willingness to make decisions and to learn from them when required
  • Makes decisions and sets direction based on financial measures and strategies while seeing the big picture that is necessary to understand Amcor's strategy, competitive position, and business environment
  • Creates clear policies and professional and engineering/design principles to address differing and variable situations and teaches these to others. Ensures these become standards for department
  • Understands and anticipates needs of customers; drives product opportunities
  • Has influence on commercial decisions
  • Operate within budgets of approximately $50K-$1M
  • Develops, tracks and meets capital and expense budget for their responsibility
  • Adapts to changing workplace needs and works cross functionally continually improve processes and employee engagement.
  • Monitors and maintains a clear understanding of project needs, hurdles, and workload

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree In Engineering or related field; packaging discipline preferred
  • 8 or more years of experience working with injection and blow molding equipment, tooling, and processing
  • Deep technical knowledge in this industry, and understanding of industry trends and how they apply to customers
  • Travel 50%
