Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Project Leader to drive planning for new products and improvements, balancing cost, schedules, and resource allocation.

You will coordinate across engineering, quality, procurement, and production while guiding teams and ensuring successful project delivery. Strong engineering background and 50% travel are required for this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; packaging discipline preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience working with injection and blow molding equipment, tooling, and processing.
  • Deep technical knowledge in this industry, and understanding of trends and how they apply to customers.
  • Travel 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning process for new products and improvements, focusing on cost, dates, resources, quality, and budgets.
  • Manages multiple high-profile projects and allocates resources across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides technical leadership and coordinates across disciplines while guiding teams and resolving issues.
  • Develops and implements resource plans to ensure successful project completion.
  • Keeps close communication with customers and internal teams, managing expectations and delivery.
  • Applies SPC and quality practices; interprets data to guide project direction.
  • Leads teams that may include members not directly reporting to you.
  • Manages budgets up to approximately $50K-$1M and tracks capital and expense needs.
  • Operates within, and occasionally extends beyond, procedural boundaries when required.

Job Description

Position Overview:

Leads the planning process of new products and/or improvements to existing products, focusing on project concerns such as cost, completion dates, resource allocation, quality/reliability, resource allocation, budget allocation, etc.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties
  • Ability to run multiple high-profile projects simultaneously - Each PD will have specific accts that they will be assigned too, however as projects arise, they will be given other projects from smaller customers if need
  • Provides technical leadership to various engineering projects and coordinate across all disciplines while giving work direction and inputs to business functional groups and provide leadership in resolving complex technical issues
  • Must have excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form - As the person who is coordinating all aspects of the project communication is incredibly important.
  • Develops and implements resource plans in order to ensure the proper resources are allocated for successful completion of the project(s)
  • Must be able to manage both internal and external customers
  • Must have a good understanding of SPC and quality practices - As the project leader you will receive data from the bottles throughout the project. The PD will need to interpret the data and make decisions on the path moving forward
  • Must have the ability to lead a team of individuals that will not be reporting directly to you
  • Must have a good understanding of EBM, ISBM, IBM, and IM technologies
  • Plastic processing experience is a plus
  • Tooling build experience a plus
  • Computer skills are very important... Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, is a must... CAD background is a plus
  • Capable of developing and managing project budgets
  • Ability to work within a procedure-based organization but capable of extending outside those boundaries if required
  • Willingness to make decisions and to learn from them when required
  • Makes decisions and sets direction based on financial measures and strategies while seeing the big picture that is necessary to understand Amcor’s strategy, competitive position, and business environment
  • Creates clear policies and professional and engineering/design principles to address differing and variable situations and teaches these to others. Ensures these become standards for department
  • Understands and anticipates needs of customers; drives product opportunities
  • Has influence on commercial decisions
  • Operate within budgets of approximately $50K-$1M
  • Develops, tracks and meets capital and expense budget for their responsibility
  • Adapts to changing workplace needs and works cross functionally continually improve processes and employee engagement.
  • Monitors and maintains a clear understanding of project needs, hurdles, and workload
