Job summary

Modine, a global leader in thermal management headquartered in Racine, WI, seeks a Product Development & Application Engineer Intern. The role supports design, testing, analysis, and optimization of heat exchanger products while collaborating with multiple engineering teams.

Part-time during school and full-time on breaks, with travel as needed. The intern will develop CAD models, perform computations, and build knowledge of Modine products in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Sophomore standing in an engineering degree program.
• Strong engineering skills.
• Solid modeling and drawing with ProE, SolidEdge, UG or Catia CAD software.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn.
• Good decision making and communication skills.
• Mechanical inclination with a focus on quality and safety.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Willing to travel with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and validate products by experimentation.
• Create and revise engineering specifications.
• Design test fixtures and procure them.
• Perform root-cause analysis for product failures.
• Support cross-functional teams (Application, Manufacturing, Production).
• Perform engineering calculations and develop CAD drawings.
• Model heat exchanger performance using CAE.
• Benchmark and catalog competitor products.
• Improve engineering tools and processes for continuous improvement.
• Document findings through reports and slides.
