Perry Ellis International, a leading lifestyle apparel company, is seeking a Product Developer for its Portland office. This role involves liaising with design and sourcing teams, managing the development process for the Nike Swim brand while ensuring quality and sustainability targets are met. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in product development and exemplary communication skills.

SUMMARY
Perry Ellis International, a fashion and lifestyle company, distributor, and licensor of a broad line of high-quality men’s and women’s apparel and accessories. Our corporate headquarters are located in Miami, Florida. We also have offices located in New York, Portland, and Tampa. We are looking for a Product Developer to be a liaison between design, tech design, merchandising, sourcing and overseas partners in our Portland office for the Nike Swim brand. This position is responsible for the overall development process for apparel making sure all aspects of development meets calendar timelines, target prices, sourcing policy, quality standards, as well as sustainability targets. This role ensures developments hit key calendar dates and gates & facilitates all aspects of the sample order process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Concise & direct communication with overseas LO/vendors
Ensure all appropriate development documentation is maintained ensuring calendar deadlines are met
Maintain PLM with job requests and up to date comments
Maintain in-house color standard library and send out standards as needed by overseas LO/vendors
Send out lab dip requests and print artwork for development
Review lab dip, trim and print submits with design team and advise comments/approvals in PLM and to LO/vendors
Attend tech sheet hand offs with design and tech design and ensure correct fabrics and trims are being identified
Participate in weekly meetings with design, merch & tech design to discuss development progress
Manage sample order process for all of Nike swim lines
Partner with planning for all system needs for sample order set up - to include sku gen, creating sample PO’s, processing allocation, ensuring invoice payments
Write fabric and salesman sample POs
Assist with receiving salesman samples and allocation to global sales team
Review and comment on pre-production samples
Assist with special projects assigned to the Product Development team
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Strong written and verbal skills
Experience with communication to overseas vendors
Proficient in the Adobe design programs (InDesign and Illustrator)
Must be highly organized with strong aptitude for spreadsheet building
Superior color/hue discrimination
Knowledge of apparel production calendars and timelines
Ability to work independently and set deadlines
Ability to multitask and work in a fast pace environment with multiple deadlines
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for trade shows and visiting vendors/suppliers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the normal demands of any job, such as sitting, standing, carrying items
Ability to pack and move boxes up to 40lb with the assistance of a hand truck
Ability to move and carry rolls of fabric
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree with focus on Product Development, Product Design, Sports Product Management or related field.
2-3 years of related experience in product development
