Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA designs defense technology and autonomous systems, advancing Lattice OS to enable real-time, 3D command and control across air, land, sea, and subsurface domains.

As a designer on the Mission Autonomy team, you’ll own the design vision for hundreds of autonomous vehicles, shaping fleet management, mission planning, live execution, and cross-domain collaboration with a focus on safety, operator trust, and scalable workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in product design, UX, or HCI with high craft and technical understanding.
• Autonomy to drive feature- and system-level work and navigate ambiguity.
• Strong visual and interaction design skills with experience in complex technical workflows.
• Systems thinking to map journeys across multiple user types and contexts.
• Strong prototyping to drive clarity in decision-making.
• Able to communicate the rationale behind design decisions across engineering, product, and business teams.
• No defense experience required; U.S. TS clearance with SCI eligibility is needed.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Mission Autonomy design group to shape experiences from discovery to delivery.
• Spend time on-site with soldiers and SMEs to build empathy and test design hypotheses.
• Create narratives, journey maps, user workflows, and high-fidelity mockups to guide development.
• Translate complex software into clear interfaces operable by commanders and operators.
• Partner with engineering and product to set delivery timelines, prioritizing critical functionality.
• Identify opportunities to reuse design system components across interfaces for scale.
• Contribute to the central design team through critiques, mentoring, and sharing best practices.
