BLOX in Bessemer, AL is seeking a Product Designer II – Design for Manufacturing to transform concepts into production-ready designs for modular buildings. You will join a launch team, shape architecture, usability, and materials, and produce models, drawings, and BOMs used on the shop floor.

You will work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management to resolve issues, push continuous improvement, and support prototyping and product launches.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 3–6 years of experience designing physical products for production in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong 3D CAD skills using Inventor or SolidWorks; able to produce complete production drawings.
• Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and managing engineering change control.
• Knowledge of DfM/DfA, fabrication methods (sheet metal, structural steel, welding, fastening), and tolerancing.
• Ability to work on the shop floor with production teams to solve problems in real time.

Aufgaben

• Develop new product concepts and refine designs for usability, materials and cost.
• Maintain up-to-date 3D models and production drawings for assigned products.
• Produce fabrication files, BOMs, and specifications before release to production.
• Apply DFM and DFA to improve manufacturability and assembly.
• Select materials balancing performance, cost, availability, and manufacturability.
• Own design change control; keep models and BOMs traceable.
• Collaborate daily with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and PM to resolve issues.
• Track design-input errors and drive continuous-improvement actions.
• Support prototyping, first-article builds, and product launch readiness.
