Curious about how we design across operating systems and new hardware? Want to challenge yourself by melding world-class productivity apps with native platform expectations alongside a fast-evolving platter of AI capabilities? We are a horizontal design team within the Office Product Group Design Studio looking for a Product Design Manager who can elevate our experience and design framework across Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to bring Office on mobile and tablet platforms to new heights. You will lead a focused team of designers for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on Apple platforms (iOS, iPad, macOS) to design native experiences via a blend of OS conventions and the Fluent Design System. You’ll partner closely with sibling teams well-versed on Windows and web platforms in the Office Shared Design team, and with mobile partner teams across the globe to deliver a cohesive suite of productivity experiences across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
Key initiatives for the mobile and tablet apps for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint include frequent updates to the interaction patterns, affordances, and new capabilities offered by the OS, keeping our apps modern and beautiful and focused on getting our users maximum productivity in their day-to-day workflows. At the same time, we have heavy investments in infusing AI-powered productivity enhancement scenarios into the apps. Your team will be at the forefront of delivering experience that brings out the full power of Microsoft 365 Copilot with a mobile-first optimization and thoughtfulness.
A bit about us. We share. We jam. We collaborate and work in the open with many teams concurrently. We contribute and learn from one another—evolving good designs to great designs using the latest technologies and adapting to the transforming landscape that is product design... we work in small, cross-app, interdisciplinary teams to ensure we build products that are inclusive, efficient, and delightful. We make-to-think. We prototype and test. We work from small to large screens and back again. We build both category-leading apps and define durable ecosystem scaling across them.
We tell compelling, emotional stories to spark innovation, win new fans, and bring our existing users along for the ride. We push boundaries— constantly—because we believe in the magic of bold ideas.
We want creative thinkers and leaders, especially those with a keen product sense for mobile and tablet forms and user needs. Strategists who dare to challenge the established norms of product design process and innovate in a model-forward way. Mentors who can coach and invigorate their team to blend creative product visions and user stories with curiosity for technical depth alongside our Applied Scientists, Prompt Engineers, and Model experts.
If you’re feeling adventurous and stoked for the above, let’s chat. We cannot wait to create with you.
