Job summary

Phoenix Contact USA is seeking a Designer II to develop 2D & 3D CAD drawings and assembly models that are manufacturable and cost-effective. The role works with product management, customers, manufacturing, purchasing, planning, and external vendors to support lifecycle management of products.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree in engineering technology with 2–5 years of design experience, GD&T knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
• Knowledge of GD&T preferred for mechanical engineers.
• 2-5 years of mechanical or electrical design experience.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects, while occasionally being the prime contributor.
• 3D Solid Modeling experience.
• 2D drawing experience.

Responsibilities

• Create 2D & 3D CAD drawings/models.
• Create assembly drawings for manufacturing.
• Thorough understanding of tolerancing and dimensioning.
• Change coordination and BOM maintenance.
• Interface with Sales, customers, and Product Managers to obtain requirements.
• Collaborate on design reviews and cross-functional projects.
• Support manufacturing with design interpretation and troubleshooting.
• Occasional domestic travel.
