Job summary

Southern States, LLC is seeking an entry-level Product Design Engineer I to learn SSL drafting and production processes under supervision. You will apply standard computations, perform analyses, and contribute to 3D CAD design tasks.

Responsibilities include drafting, modeling, BOM creation, and providing technical support to manufacturing and field installations while developing skills per engineering procedures and ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
• 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks required.
• Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude is essential.

• Design, draft and model using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for existing and new products.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM).

• Improve usability of existing and new products.
• Revise processes and drawings via VIP systems.

Job Summary: The Product Design Engineer I is an entry level engineering position. In this role the engineer will learn and apply SSL Drafting and Production processes while working under the supervision of an experienced engineer. The work will include standard computations, analysis, and 3D CAD design work.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work on projects assigned or directed by more experienced Engineers.
• Design, draft and model using AutoCAD and Solidworks for existing and new products.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, Specifications and Bill of Materials.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and field installation.
• Develop engineering skills based on engineering procedure 230.50 Engineering Training.
• Create samples of working models for demonstration.
• Improve usability of new and existing products.
• Revises processes, documents and drawings through Value Improvement (VIP) Systems.
• Begin to perform tests in the engineering lab under supervision, learn ANSI Standards and how they relate to testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience: 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
• Stronghands-on mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• High Voltage Switch experience.
• Southern States Co-Op or Intern experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in FEA computer analysis.
