Job summary

MacLean Power Systems is seeking an engineering professional to design, model and test prototypes for products and components. The role involves researching design proposals, creating concepts and production criteria, and identifying materials for production.

Responsibilities include producing hand drawings, parts lists and cost information, making demonstration samples, negotiating production processes, and ensuring CAD-based concepts are fully documented and compliant with safety and quality

Qualifications

• Typically require a bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of experience.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Responsibilities

• Design, model and test prototypes for products
• Conduct research and create design proposals for projects
• Create concepts, performance and production criteria
• Identify and select materials needed for production
• Produce final hand drawings and specifications
• Create parts lists
• List costs involved in production
• Make samples of working models for demonstration
• Negotiate appropriate production processes
• Improve usability of an item
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts
• Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
• Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
• Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
