Job summary

MacLean Power Systems in Stockton, California is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our hands-on engineering team. You will design, test, and iterate mechanical components for high‑voltage switchgear, collaborating with manufacturing to take ideas from concept through fabrication and release.

The role emphasizes SolidWorks and AutoCAD modeling, drawing creation, prototype development, and problem solving on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or expected graduation soon.
• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is preferred, but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanically inclined with a hands-on engineering mindset.
• Interest in mechanical design, fabrication, welding, manufacturing, and product testing.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials.
• Develop drawing details, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
• Design, build, and evaluate mechanical prototypes.
• Perform product testing and document test procedures, observations, and results.
• Collaborate with fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly teams for manufacturability.
• Support prototype builds and resolve fit, function, and manufacturing issues.
• Process ECOs/ECRs and maintain engineering documentation.
• Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing, assembly, and product-performance issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for existing products and processes.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Work with engineering, quality, operations, purchasing, and production personnel.
• Help take products from concept through prototype, testing, manufacturing, and production release.
