Job summary

Apple is seeking a Product Design Engineer to own the mechanical design of parts, assemblies and modules for Vision products, overseeing analysis, prototyping and reliability from concept through testing.

You will collaborate with Industrial Design, PM, Manufacturing, EE and other teams, and work with vendors to bring designs to life, ensuring manufacturability and performance. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.
• 2-7+ years of hands-on, consumer electronics product design experience.
• Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills with materials and manufacturing process knowledge.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred).
• Proficiency in GD&T and creating 2D drawings.
• Experience with external manufacturing vendors (DFM/DFA, FAI/CPK).
• Familiarity with FEA results interpretation.

Description

The Product Design Engineer role will give you direct responsibility over the mechanical design of parts, assemblies and modules within Apple Vision products and own the analysis, assembly and reliability of these parts. This role spans the product design cycle from concept development, prototyping and testing, to collaborating with vendors to bring the design to life. You will engage in frequent multi-disciplinary collaboration with teams like Industrial Design, Project Management, Manufacturing, EE, Display, Camera, Antenna, Battery, Softgoods, Human Engineering, Human Factors, Safety and more.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering2-7+ years of hands‑on, consumer electronics product design experienceStrong mechanical engineering analytical skills, experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirementsExperience working in technical project groups in a professional environmentProficiency in 3D CAD (any modeling package, NX preferred)Proficiency in practical application of GD&T techniques and creating 2D drawingsProficiency in tolerance analyses with statistical techniquesPractical experience working with external manufacturing vendors (DFM/DFA, FAI/CPK dimensional reports)Thorough knowledge of engineering materials, understanding of property tradeoffs and interpreting FEA resultsExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teamsCreative problem solving, with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creationDetail orientated and capable of handling multiple assignments at once

Preferred Qualifications
