Job summary

Accel Group is seeking a Product Design Engineer to translate customer ideas into manufacturable products using mechanical design, Inventor/CAD, and coordination with the project team. This role reports to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

• Create engineered product and part drawings in Inventor/CAD from customer concept information
• Produce detailed parts and components lists in database software including part size, material composition, machining and edging requirements
• Create production CNC part programs utilizing CAD and CNC programming software
• Set up BOMs and labor routings in ERP software system, listing all product material requirements, packaging and labor operations for plant production
• Minimal product estimating and material purchasing may be required
• Communicate clearly and effectively with customers to understand their needs, and turn those concepts into working drawings for customer approval
• Take approved drawings and create detailed production drawings from which product can be manufactured
• Produce documentation including instructions and full labeling for all parts, subassemblies, and final assembly
• Coordinate effectively with production facilities to ensure timely, accurate fabrication of customer orders
• Prepare and maintain product catalog
• Prepare stock requisitions for purchasing
• Troubleshoot variances and production updates
• Maintain value- and process-oriented principles of design and manufacturing

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for transforming a customer’s idea into a manufactured product in an efficient and timely manner using mechanical design, database software, documentation, and coordination with the entire project team. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Inventor and AutoCAD required
• 3-5 years cabinetry, woodworking, or display fixture experience (design, fabrication, or assembly) Must be able to read and understand fixture drawings and floor plans
• Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn required
• Basic computer knowledge needed
• Good work history demonstrating dependable performance a must
• Familiarity with materials and hardware for cabinetry/fixtures is preferred
• Ability to work productively in a team-oriented environment with limited supervision.
