Job summary

WB Manufacturing seeks a Lead Engineer to drive new product development and modify existing products for seamless integration with ERP/MES and CAD/CAM systems.

You will ensure smooth mechanical design, BOM creation, and routings for casework and office furniture with a strong emphasis on system-wide usability within the engineering team and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.

  • Create and modify routings to optimize product yield and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and NPD to solve advanced design challenges balancing function, aesthetics and manufacturability.

Job description

Serve as a lead engineer, ensuring that new products are created and existing products are modified, such that they integrate with the fully automated ERP/MES and CAD/CAM systems.Ensure smooth mechanical design/engineering, bill of materials creation, and routings of casework and office furniture products with a strong emphasis on the overall system and user-friendly experience within the engineering team and throughout the manufacturing process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop Insight and Construct models using engineering principles to support manufacturing processes.
  • Apply standardization to Engineering models for efficient end user functionality in customer experience.
  • Create and modify routings to support optimum product yield and efficiencies throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Apply system architectural principles to product design, focusing on the structure, organization, and scalability of the product.
  • Owner of critical system data including product matrices, persisted properties, and standard Construct and Insight data.
  • Work closely with other Engineers, Designers, and New Product Development to identify and solve advanced product design challenges, balancing functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
  • Create item templates to assign feature/option sets to product configurations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Identify and address technical challenges and risks.
  • Prioritize and organize work ensuring that tasks are successfully completed within defined timeframes and meet predetermined deadlines.
  • Follow established design templates procedures and work instructions.
  • Comply with industry design standards and drawing standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent work experience

Experience and/or Training:
  • 5 - 7 years in an engineering or engineering related role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design/engineering, bills of materials, routings, and manufacturing processes.
Licenses/Certificates:

None

Technology/Equipment:
  • Basic level skills in 3D AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks.
  • Basic understanding of ERP/MES (Enterprise Resource Planning/MES Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent work experience

Experience and/or Training:
  • 5 plus years in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design/engineering, bills of materials, routings, and manufacturing processes.
Licenses/Certificates:
  • SolidWorks, Inventor, or 3D AutoCAD Certified
Technology/Equipment:
  • Proficient working with ERP/MES (Enterprise Resource Planning/MES Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in using IMOS or Construct (Cyncly CAD/CAM Software)
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Sitting for long periods of time, 6-8 hours per day. Walking, speaking, hearing seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools and typing. Semi-frequently lift up to 15 lbs. Some tasks may require employee to bend, stoop, twist, and turn.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor office working environment. Office is temperature-controlled all year round. Minimal hazards identified.
