Job summary

Air Products Membrane Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Product Design & Development in St. Louis. You will transform ideas into real-world solutions, design pressure containment vessels, and work with cross-functional teams across development, quality, procurement and operations.

The role involves hands-on lab work, test setup, data collection and documentation, with SolidWorks modeling and PDM maintenance to support new product introductions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 1+ years of product design or mechanical engineering experience using SolidWorks.
  • Experience creating CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in a lab or testing environment with data collection and result interpretation.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to design pressure containment vessels and related products.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies and drawings to advance designs from concept to commercialization.
  • Maintain design documentation within SolidWorks PDM and manage lab setups.
  • Plan and perform mechanical tests; analyze data and report results.

This role also includes hands-on laboratory work, including setting up and performing mechanical tests, documenting and analyzing results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.**Position Responsibilities*** Apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles to design innovative pressure containment vessels and related products.* Understand machining and fabrication processes, including their capabilities and limitations, and incorporate manufacturability into designs.* Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings that advance product designs from concept through commercialization.* Maintain design documentation within SolidWorks PDM.* Organize and maintain the mechanical testing laboratory while conducting tests to validate product performance and mechanical integrity.* Document, analyze, and communicate test results through established reporting methods.* Design casting molds and components that integrate with existing manufacturing processes and equipment.* Collaborate closely with plant engineering and manufacturing teams to support seamless implementation of new products.* Develop test plans and coordinate prototype manufacturing activities.* Participate in hands-on laboratory testing, data collection, and troubleshooting activities.* Work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations personnel to deliver practical and innovative solutions.* Support a culture of safety by maintaining laboratory safety standards and best practices.**Qualifications*** Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).* 1+ years of experience in product design, equipment design, or mechanical engineering utilizing SolidWorks.* Experience creating CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.* Experience working in a laboratory or testing environment, including test setup, data collection, and interpretation of results.* SolidWorks certifications and Design for Six Sigma experience are considered strong assets.* Understanding of manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or product development processes.* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.* Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across diverse cultures and organizational levels.* Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.* Willingness to travel domestically as required.**What's In It for You:**At Air Products we foster a culture of inclusion where every voice is heard, and everyone feels they belong and matter.
