Job summary

Fastly, a leading edge cloud company, is seeking a Product Counsel to partner with product and engineering teams across the lifecycle from design to launch. This role provides hands-on legal guidance on privacy, IP, data protection, and regulatory matters for cutting-edge product features and partnerships.

You will draft and negotiate terms, build clear disclosures, and help shape scalable policies and training to improve processes.

Qualifications

• JD from a respected institution and membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 1 year of in-house experience.
• Comfort sitting in product and engineering meetings and giving practical guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to simplify complex legal issues for business audiences.
• Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to prioritize and manage projects independently in a dynamic environment.
• Collaborative team player who improves processes and builds relationships.
• Curiosity about APIs, encryption, LLMs, and cloud architecture.

Responsibilities

• Partner day-to-day with product and engineering teams from planning to launch.
• Translate legal and regulatory considerations into clear, actionable guidance for cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support complex customer, partner and vendor negotiations; draft and negotiate agreements.
• Draft and review clear terms, disclosures, and marketing copy.
• Help draft and maintain policies, playbooks, checklists, FAQs, training materials.
• Provide flexible, generalist legal support across Product, Technology, and Regulatory teams.
