Job summary

Jakks Pacific, Inc. is seeking a Cost Engineer for the Santa Monica office to influence product costs from concept through production. You will collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop cost estimates, optimize materials, and review quotations to support margin goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in similar product development roles.
• Toy industry experience is valuable but not a must.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Design team to review concept sketches and provide cost guidance during early development.
• Develop and maintain product cost estimates, and validate costs throughout the product lifecycle.
• Partner with the Asia Engineering team to optimize material selection, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods to achieve target costs.
• Review factory quotations and cost breakdowns to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve margins.
• Work cross-functionally to evaluate alternative design or manufacturing solutions when target costs aren’t met.
• Maintain cost models and benchmarking data to improve forecasting for future products.
• Estimate, validate, and optimize tooling costs to stay within approved budgets.
