Job summary

Prater Industries in Bolingbrook, IL, is seeking a Product Configuration Specialist to translate customer specifications into manufacturing-ready configurations for Airlock and Rotary Valve products.

You will create and revise drawings with SolidWorks and DraftSight, develop BOMs and work orders, and maintain ERP data while collaborating across Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of drafting or product configuration experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD software.
• Knowledge of BOMs, manufacturing processes, and ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

• Configure products based on customer specifications and engineering standards.
• Create and revise manufacturing and approval drawings using SolidWorks and DraftSight.
• Develop and maintain BOMs, work orders, routings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Process engineering changes and maintain revision-controlled documentation.
• Maintain product data and structures within the ERP system.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Production teams to ensure orders move efficiently from order entry through production.
• Support continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for mechanical design, product configuration, and manufacturing excellence? Prater Industries is seeking a Product Configuration Specialist to play a critical role in transforming customer requirements into manufacturing-ready products. In this position, you’ll collaborate across Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure our Airlock and Rotary Valve products are accurately configured, documented, and released for production.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
• Experience in industrial equipment or manufacturing environments.
• Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and ERP records.
