Job summary

Skechers, headquartered in Southern California, is seeking a Product Compliance Manager to oversee footwear testing and ensure compliance with Skechers standards and global regulatory requirements. You will participate in testing processes, develop methods, update standards, and collaborate with product teams, Legal, and supply chain.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years in retail Product Compliance or product testing, with international exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in retail Product Compliance and safety verification or product testing, ideally in apparel and footwear with international exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze test results to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement in product creation.
  • Develop new testing methods, establish test standards, and communicate results to product teams.
  • Update testing manuals and standards for material and finished shoe testing, including RSL policy.
  • Set up SOPs for testing and validate new technology initiatives.
  • Review and approve marketing claims and labeling.
  • Collaborate with Legal to ensure global product compliance.
  • Develop and implement new product guidelines around safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Address vendor questions on regulatory and safety testing requirements.
  • Communicate test methods and requirements to supply chain through trainings and seminars.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams, vendors, and labs on testing and regulatory issues.
  • Drive day-to-day team functions and tactical testing decisions.
  • Provide guidance on footwear and non-footwear (GWP) testing.
  • Monitor global regulations to keep Skechers testing matrix up to date.
  • Lead efforts to prepare business for new product regulations.

About The Role

The Product Compliance Manager is involved in all parts of the footwear testing process including all company initiatives to ensure that our footwear meets Skechers Testing Standard and global regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Analyzing test results to contribute to key decision making and continuous improvement in all areas of product creation.
  • Assisting in the development of new testing methods, establishing new test standards and effective communication of results & analysis to product teams.
  • Updating testing manuals and standards for material and finished shoe testing, including Skechers RSL Policy.
  • Setting up SOPs for testing and validating company new technology initiatives.
  • Reviewing and approving Marketing Claims and Labeling.
  • Working with Legal and outside counsels to ensure global compliance of Skechers products.
  • Develop and implement new product guidelines around safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Addressing vendor questions on regulatory and safety testing requirements.
  • Communicating Skechers' test methods and requirements to supply chain including in-person trainings and seminars.
  • Interacting with cross functional teams, vendors, and labs regarding testing, labeling and regulatory requirements and safety issues.
  • Driving day to day team functions including tactical decisions on testing requirements and product issues.
  • Providing technical and regulatory guidance on footwear and non-footwear (GWP or promotional items).
  • Monitoring global regulations and industry standards to ensure Skechers' testing matrix is up to date.
  • Leading all efforts to prepare the business to comply with new product regulations.
What You'll Bring
  • Knowledge of material characteristics, footwear construction techniques and production processes.
  • Knowledge of industry testing methods/Standards (SATRA, ISO, AATCC, ASTM, etc.).
  • Well-organized attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in retail Product Compliance and safety verification process or Product Testing process, ideally in Apparel and Footwear with international exposure.

The pay range for this position is $95,000-$115,000/yr USD.
