Boston College is seeking a Technical Producer for ACC Network broadcasts to create and develop content, scripts, and run-of-show materials for live athletics productions.

  • 4+ years of producing/directing linear and digital broadcasts
  • 3+ years experience in video control room environment
  • 3+ years experience in script contributing or writing
  • Evening and weekend work is mandatory. These demands are primarily centered on athletic competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop content for live ACC Network broadcasts, Coaches Shows, special segments, and other athletic department programming.
  • Assist with production planning and collaborate with External Affairs, Athletic Communications and Interactive Media.
  • Identify and select staff (play by play, color commentator) under the direction of the Executive Producer and manage the game-day budget.
  • Train production staff and oversee the progress of live broadcasts from pre- to post-production.
  • Use creative techniques to enhance network content and develop the run of show for broadcasts and multimedia content.
  • Operate camera equipment and handle recording, editing, titling, and audio/music/sfx integration.

Job Description

The Producer will be responsible for creating and developingcontent (including scripts) for live ACC Network sporting events, CoachesShows, special segments, special interest stories and other athletic departmentprogramming used to promote BC athletics. The position will assist with otherimportant aspects of Boston College’s ACC Network broadcasts. Thisincludes production planning, production and collaborating with ExternalAffairs, Athletic Communications and Interactive Media on the dissemination ofcontent post production.

This position is responsible for identifying and selecting(under the direction of the Executive Producer) professional game day personnelthat will produce all live broadcasts. These staff members also includeplay by play announcers and color commentators. This responsibility alsoincludes staying within a game day production budget given by the Assoc.Athletic Director- Technology and Broadcast Services. The Producer willalso be asked to train production staff and supervise the progress of a livebroadcast or taped project from pre‑production to post‑production.

In addition, the position will also be responsible for usingcreative production techniques to enhance all network content. He/Shemust be able to collaborate with the network Director, other producers,engineers and other key participants about production details and to helpfacilitate the creation of the “run of show” for live broadcasts and allmultimedia content. Additionally, the Producer must be able to operate(and instruct others) a camera and be able to record and edit video and soundprojects, including selecting program format for final output,capturing/importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and soundfiles, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, addingmusic/voice-over/sfx, media management and archiving project media. TheProducer must also be knowledgeable of the changing landscape of livebroadcasts with respect to what’s new and accepted in the industry.

Flexible daily work schedule. Evening and weekend schedulerelates directly to athletic events and other university event schedules. Thisposition includes working on holidays.

This position works in multiple types of environments –office, production room, as well as outdoors acquiring video footage/content.In addition, this position is responsible for lifting video equipment which maybe as heavy as 45‑50 lbs.

  • - Producer: $82,100 - $102,650; 5+ years related professional experience
  • - Associate Producer: $74,450 - $93,050; 1-5 years experience
