Job summary

Luke's Local is hiring for a Produce Clerk to join our Bay Area markets. You will stock displays, assist customers, and help maintain fresh, high-quality produce across our stores. Ideal candidates bring retail experience, a friendly attitude, and a willingness to train in other areas.

This on-site role requires standing 6–8 hours, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and weekend availability. We value teamwork, reliability, and a proactive approach to ensuring excellent customer service and product

Qualifications

• Experience with retail, preferably grocery.
• Experience with food preparation, service, and safety.
• Experience with customer service.
• Willingness to train and work in other areas of the store as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and stock displays before the store is open.
• Maintain stock and keep displays attractive during business hours.
• Monitor displays and spot check for spoilage. Ensure products are FIFO-ed and waste is tracked.
• Prep certain items for storage.
• Maintain a clean and orderly space on the floor, in the walk-in, and in the back rooms according to Company protocols.
• Provide excellent customer service and hospitality to all guests in all areas of the store.
• Demonstrate consistent work attendance.
• Maintain a positive, equitable work environment for all staff.
• Stay informed about weekly items and guide customers to product locations throughout the store.
• Communicate and collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner and in line with our Communication Code of Conduct.

About the Job

Our Produce department is 100% Organic. We work with many local farms and distributors to provide the freshest, highest-quality seasonal flowers, fruits, and veggies. Members of the Produce staff should have a broad knowledge of our offerings and work hard to maintain high-quality displays. The Produce team maintains open and constructive communication with the Produce Supervisor and their teammates. Having a positive attitude, team mentality, and eagerness to learn is a must. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is a required component of this role; all Clerks must be available to work at least one weekend day regularly.

• Sales floor of retail grocery stores
• Must be able to spend 6-8 hours per day on your feet
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive stocking motions, repetitive food prep motions.
• Stocking of shelves and merchandising displays
• Handling of refrigerated products in a cold environment for extended periods of time

Preferred education and experience

• Experience with retail, preferably grocery
• Experience with food preparation, service, and safety
• Experience with customer service
• A willingness to train and work in other areas of the store as needed

• Must be 18 years or older
• Proficiency in English
