Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keep the produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. Greet customers with a smile, answer questions, handle special requests such as fruit basket orders, and resolve customer concerns politely and professionally.
2. Unpack cartons and crates of merchandise, clean and trim produce, stock the area with new merchandise, and rotate stock to ensure freshness. Ensure merchandise is properly priced with correct signage. Maintain the salad bar and cut fruits/vegetables as needed.
3. Assist in building attractive displays. Complete necessary product logs accurately. Handle spoiled, damaged, new, and discontinued products according to company policy.
4. Maintain general sanitation in the department by following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA standards. Properly dispose of trash.
5. Assist in minimizing shrinkage and controlling damages by reporting shortages and overages to the manager.
6. If trained, assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack. Training will be provided.
7. If trained, assist with baling cardboard or related duties. Training will be provided.
8. Ensure the smooth operation of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Continuously seek to improve job performance.
9. Utilize all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. Assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently does not have supervisory responsibilities.

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED (in progress or completed). No prior experience required.
