Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps the produce department well-stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. Smiles and greets customers, answers questions, handles special requests such as filling orders for fruit baskets, and resolves customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
2. Unpacks cartons and crates of merchandise, cleans and trims produce, stocks the area with new merchandise, and ensures merchandise is in saleable condition by rotating stock to ensure freshness. Ensures product has correct pricing and signage. Maintains salad bar and cut fruit/vegetable as needed.
3. Assists in building attractive displays. Completes necessary product logs accurately. Handles spoiled, damaged, new, and discontinued items according to company policy.
4. Maintains general sanitation in the department. Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA requirements. Properly disposes of trash.
5. Helps minimize shrink and controls damages. Reports shortages and overages to the manager.
6. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries, including operation of power or hand jacks if trained. Training provided.
7. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
8. Ensures the smooth functioning of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
9. Utilizes all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. The requirements include:

• Completion or ongoing pursuit of a High School Diploma or GED.
• No prior experience required.
