Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by produce department
• Maintain and update temperature logs and train associates to ensure accurate records
• Assist department manager with hiring, firing, disciplining, transferring and evaluating department personnel
• Coach and train associates to read scales and prices correctly and to provide courteous service
• Supervise all salad bar operations
• Maintain communication with store personnel
• Plan and direct activities of the produce department in the absence of the Produce Manager
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of all produce products
• Order stock and control waste and loss
• Maintain required records and reports and use them effectively
• Ensure clean and safe working environments across areas
• Keep adequate supplies on hand (bags, pricing, equipment)
• Analyze department performance and recommend store-level improvements
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports
• Demonstrate leadership in managing people and workloads
• Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous and professional
