Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Utah seeks a Produce Department Manager to lead a team, drive sales, and ensure quality and safety of all produce items. You will manage scheduling, training, and promotions while delivering excellent customer service across the store.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and a focus on department performance. You will work closely with store management to implement promotions, control costs, and maintain accurate inventory, pricing, and quality

Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions and locating products.
• Inform customers of produce specials and offer samples to discover new items.
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take action when needed.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
• Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
• Inform and educate associates about promotions affecting the department.
• Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
• Assist management in budgeting, expense control, and profit/loss reviews.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags.
• Plan and organize the inventory process and train staff on CAO.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report safety risks or incidents.
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines; handle conflicts professionally.
• Provide support through interactions with diverse customer groups.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
