Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products in the department.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions and suggest products.
• Assist with the preparation produce platters/trays.
• Inform customers of produce specials.
• Recommend items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
• Prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise.
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take action on affected items.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions to store management.
• Inspect equipment and notify managers of needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity to store management.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflict in a calm, cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
