Job summary

Kroger is hiring for a department associate to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean environment. You will assist the department manager to reach sales and profit goals and uphold quality standards while embodying the Customer 1st strategy and the company values of respect, honesty and integrity.

You will answer customer questions, promote brands, help with produce platters, maintain product knowledge, and ensure accurate labeling and stocking.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Promote Corporate Brands to customers
• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions
• Assist with the preparation produce platters/trays
• Inform customers of produce specials
• Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity to store management
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
• Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
