Position Overview

The Produce Clerk is responsible for keeping the Produce Department stocked and clean during business hours, assisting customers, and maintaining a friendly demeanor. Adherence to procedural guidelines set by the Produce Department is essential.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensure cleanliness of the produce, floral, storage, and work areas, including cleaning shelves, floors, and removing hazards.
2. Stock and organize produce and floral departments, ensuring proper presentation, rotation, tagging, and pricing.
3. Assist customers with inquiries, purchases, and product information, including cross-selling.
4. Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy, quality, and temperature.
5. Monitor promotional signage and ensure availability of recipe cards, coupons, and informational materials.
6. Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, and hand trucks safely and effectively.
7. Participate in inventory preparation and back stock organization.
8. Manage the cut fruit and vegetable program.
9. Support sales and profitability goals of the department.
10. Maintain product knowledge and proper product handling.
11. Conduct regular department walks to ensure organization and cleanliness.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience, especially in Floral.
• Experience in natural foods industry is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
