Description

The Produce Clerk reports to the Produce Manager. This is a non-exempt position.

Knowledge

• Obtain a food handling permit within the first 14 days of employment.
• Complete ongoing training as per the Cosentino Learning Plan.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Skills and Responsibilities

• Implement Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
• Prepare, package, and display produce products neatly.
• Inspect produce for freshness, damage, and expiration dates; rotate stock properly.
• Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely.
• Meet productivity standards and handle damaged or un-saleable items appropriately.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas.
• Unload, sort, and stock incoming shipments without damage.
• Label and price merchandise accurately.
• Be knowledgeable about products, policies, and procedures.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
• Follow health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
• Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, math, and reading skills.

Physical Abilities

• Reaching overhead, twisting, lifting up to 20 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Work in cold environments such as coolers and freezers.
• Climb ladders up to 5 ft if necessary.
