Job summary

Luke's Local is seeking a Produce Clerk in our San Francisco stores to set up and stock displays, guide customers, and maintain high-quality product presentation. You will work closely with the Produce Supervisor and teammates, staying informed on weekly items and ensuring a friendly shopping experience for guests.

Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is expected, with the ability to stand long hours and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in grocery or retail preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and stock displays before opening the store.
• Maintain stock and keep displays attractive during business hours.
• Monitor displays and spot-check for spoilage; track waste with FIFO.
• Prep certain items for storage.
• Maintain a clean and orderly space on the floor, walk-in, and back rooms.
• Provide excellent customer service and hospitality to all guests.
• Demonstrate consistent work attendance.
• Maintain a positive, equitable work environment for all staff.
• Stay informed about weekly items and guide customers to product locations.
• Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and outside contacts in a timely manner.
• Creative thinker.

Job description

Our Produce department is 100% Organic. We work with many local farms and distributors to provide the freshest, highest-quality seasonal flowers, fruits, and veggies. Members of the Produce staff should have a broad knowledge of our offerings and work hard to maintain high-quality displays. The Produce team maintains open and constructive communication with the Produce Supervisor and their teammates. Having a positive attitude, team mentality, and eagerness to learn is a must. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is a required component of this role; all Clerks must be available to work at least one weekend day regularly.

• Set up and stock displays before the store is open
• Maintain stock and keep displays attractive during business hours
• Monitor displays and spot-check for spoilage. Ensure products are routinely FIFO-ed and waste is accurately tracked and reported
• Prep certain items for storage
• Maintain a clean and orderly space on the floor, in the walk-in, and in the back rooms according to Company protocols
• Provide excellent customer service and hospitality to all guests in all areas of the store

• Must be able to spend 6-8 hours per day on your feet
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive stocking motions, repetitive food prep motions.
• Stocking of shelves and merchandising displays
• Handling of refrigerated products in a cold environment for extended periods of time

Preferred education and experience

• Experience with retail, preferably grocery
• Experience with food preparation, service, and safety
• Experience with customer service
• A willingness to train and work in other areas of the store as needed

Additional Eligibility Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Proficiency in English
