Weavers Way Co-op in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood is hiring a Produce Buyer. This full-time, non-exempt position typically runs 30–34 hours per week with Tuesday through Saturday shifts, focusing on product selection, ordering, and vendor relations.

The ideal candidate has experience buying in a retail setting, strong communication skills, and a commitment to excellent member service while supporting our mission as a member-owned co-op.

• Purchase products accurately and according to customer preferences and availability.

• Receive deliveries and ensure order accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate purchasing with the Produce manager and assist with special orders.
• Merchandise products and coordinate promotions and advertising.
• Ensure labels include full ingredient lists and provide product information.

JOIN US AS A PRODUCE BUYER!

We are looking for an experienced, professional, and community-oriented individual to work as a Produce Buyer in our Chestnut Hill location. This is a full-time non-exempt position, working an estimated 30-34 hours per week. Schedule Tuesday through Saturday. The Produce Buyer is responsible for product selection, ordering, and vendor relations. If you have experience with buying in a retail setting and a drive to keep current with new products then we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

• Purchase products accurately and according to customer preferences and availability, including regular review of standing orders.
• Remain up-to-date with industry trends by regularly researching suppliers and new products.
• Arrange for product demos and samples with suppliers.
• Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery.
• Receive departmental deliveries, ensuring that order accuracy and quality is maintained prior to accepting the products.
• Coordinate any returns and monitor credit from suppliers, where applicable.
• Review invoices for accuracy.
• Coordinate purchasing with the Produce manager
• Assist customers with special orders and pre-orders, as needed.
• Merchandise and market products, including promotions, coordinating discounts with other departments, and advertising in The Shuttle.
• Ensure that all product labels are accurate, complete, current, and include a full ingredient list.
• Provide product information for customers and staff.
• Respond quickly and courteously to all requests and complaints from customers. Work to ensure that all customers feel satisfied after any interaction.
• Be able to discuss and encourage membership with prospective members.
