Job summary

Weavers Way Co-op, Mt. Airy, is seeking a Grocery Manager to lead purchasing, inventory, and department operations.

This full-time role (35+ hours weekly) requires coordinating with the Store Manager, hiring and coaching staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring excellent customer service. The right candidate will manage the POS system, supervise scheduling, and drive a welcoming shopping environment while controlling budgets and ensuring product freshness and pricing accuracy.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of grocery, retail, or food service supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating employees.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Ability to manage staffing schedules and labor budgets.
• Experience with POS systems and standard business software.
• Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and customer service best practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage store purchasing; negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices and terms, quality, and delivery; evaluate suppliers and investigate new sources, and Research new product development and selection
• Participate in quarterly inventory counts
• Manage the store POS system, including updating items and adding new items into the POS system
• Assist in posting signage, including but not limited to Co-op deals, sales, etc.
• Be fully trained on the front end of SMS and be able to cashier as needed in the store
• Conduct staff hiring, training, and coaching
• Daily supervision of staff, including ensuring proper receiving procedures are followed and setting stocking priorities for department staff
• Schedule department staff according to business needs
• Ensure, in conjunction with the Store Manager and floor staff, that shelves and coolers are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness and turnover
• Ensure accurate, up-to-date price labeling of department items; get new item information to POS Staff before the item arrives so the product can be immediately placed on the shelf
• Develop and administer a departmental budget with assistance of the Store Manager
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented, experienced individual to be our Grocery Manager at our Mt. Airy location. This is a full-time position with 35+ hours per week. Requirements

• Demonstrated experience hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating employees.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Ability to manage staffing schedules and labor budgets effectively.
• Experience conducting performance reviews and addressing employee performance issues.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and standard business software.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and customer service best practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
