Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Superior Township, MI is seeking a Buyer II to manage purchasing activities for R&D teams, including RFQ coordination, PO management, and budget review support.

You will liaise between internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure project and operational needs are met. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years purchasing experience, with strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field is required.
• 2–4 years of purchasing, supplier management, or related experience.
• Experience with indirect procurement, services, contractor sourcing, and/or capital equipment purchasing is preferred.
• Experience managing RFQ processes, competitive bidding events, supplier selection, and vendor management activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the purchasing process, including PRs, RFQs, and issuing POs.
• Collaborate with engineering and internal departments to support procurement requirements.
• Develop sourcing strategies and execute RFQ processes including bidder selection and pricing analysis.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through bidding and vendor negotiations.
• Research, qualify, and onboard vendors while maintaining positive relationships.
• Monitor vendor performance and resolve quality, delivery, invoicing issues.
• Coordinate contractor and professional service sourcing activities and contract administration.
• Review quotations and agreements for compliance with terms.
• Partner with Legal, Finance, HR, and stakeholders on purchasing matters.
• Support audits and continuous improvements in purchasing processes and systems.
• Prepare reports on spending, open PO status, and cost savings.
• Coordinate fixed asset disposal and asset sale activities.
