Job summary

AeroVironment in Petaluma, CA is seeking a Buyer II to handle procurement of services, supplies and equipment. You will review requisitions and coordinate with manufacturing, planning and engineering to acquire inventory cost-effectively and timely.

The role involves processing purchase requisitions, change orders and RFQs, negotiating terms, and supporting supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• AS/AA Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related discipline is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Minimum of 2–5 years' relevant experience
• Knowledge of FAR/DFAR procurement rules, regulations and laws
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings/specifications and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Monitors cost, schedule and scope of subcontracts; negotiates terms and pricing
• Develops new supply sources where vendors are non-competitive
• Manages supplier relationships to reduce costs and ensure on-time delivery
• Writes and completes RFQ/RFP packages
• Collaborates with finance to resolve accounting discrepancies
• Interprets technical drawings/specifications related to manufacturing processes
• Handles problems of moderate scope requiring data analysis
• Exhibits judgment within defined procedures
