Procurement Specialist – Aerospace & Electronics Manufacturing
We are seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support a growing aerospace and electronics manufacturing operation. This is not a traditional purchasing role focused solely on processing purchase orders. We're looking for a technical buyer who understands manufacturing requirements, can interpret complex Bills of Materials (BOMs), evaluate MRP demand, and make informed purchasing decisions to keep production moving. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience purchasing electronic components, managing supplier relationships, and navigating supply chain challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
- Analyze multi-level BOMs and MRP-generated requirements to identify purchasing priorities and material needs.
- Source active and passive electronic components, including integrated circuits, capacitors, resistors, and other production materials.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, and negotiate competitive pricing, lead times, and purchasing terms.
- Manage purchase orders from initial placement through delivery, proactively addressing shortages and supplier delays.
- Work closely with production planning and engineering teams to ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing schedules.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, supplier records, and part information within ERP/MRP systems.
- Build strong supplier relationships while identifying opportunities to improve cost, delivery performance, and supply chain efficiency.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience interpreting Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Experience analyzing MRP requirements and making independent purchasing decisions.
- Background purchasing electronic components or technically complex manufacturing materials.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP platforms such as IFS, SAP, or similar systems.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage high-volume purchasing requirements while balancing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, avionics, aviation, defense, automotive, medical devices, or electronics manufacturing.
- Familiarity with IFS ERP software.
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, or EAR requirements.
- Experience managing component shortages, extended lead times, and supplier delivery challenges.
- Supply chain or procurement certifications are a plus.
