Job summary

Safe Air Technology is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support purchasing and supply chain operations, ensuring materials and services meet production needs. The role collaborates with suppliers, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Warehouse, and Project Management to maintain material availability and resolve supply issues.

The position is full-time and in-office, based in Baton Rouge, LA, with responsibilities spanning PO processing, supplier communication, and cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials, or a related role.
• Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAGE, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
• Excellent supplier communication and follow-up skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Create, process, and maintain purchase orders within the ERP system.
• Source materials and components based on production and project requirements.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order confirmations, and delivery dates.
• Track and expedite open purchase orders to ensure materials arrive according to production schedules.
• Identify potential material shortages and proactively work with suppliers and internal teams to prevent production delays.
• Resolve issues involving late shipments, quantity discrepancies, damaged materials, and incorrect orders.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, pricing, and delivery reliability.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, Quality, and Project Management to understand upcoming material requirements.
• Assist with obtaining quotes, comparing suppliers, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, order status information, and supplier documentation.
• Support inventory management and communicate material needs or concerns to the appropriate teams.
• Assist with new supplier set up and maintain vendor information.
• Analyze purchasing and supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, approval requirements, and quality standards.

Position Overview

The Procurement Specialist supports Safe Air Technology’s purchasing and supply chain operations by ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced and delivered to meet production requirements.

This position works closely with suppliers, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Warehouse, and Project Management to maintain material availability, resolve supply issues, and support production schedules.

Classification

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. This role requires the consistent use of independent judgment and discretion in system design, programming, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making. As such, this position is not eligible for overtime pay.
