Job summary

Tallgrass MLP Operations, LLC is seeking an experienced Counsel to provide legal support for procurement, construction contracts, and project management across energy midstream operations and energy transition ventures. The role emphasizes contract negotiation, administration, cost recovery, and training for business teams.

The ideal candidate has seven+ years in-house or law firm experience, familiarity with contract lifecycle systems, and comfort with AI-assisted tools to improve risk

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of experience in‑house or with a law firm supporting corporate and business operations.
• Significant experience in construction, procurement, and project support.
• Experience reviewing, negotiating, drafting, interpreting, and enforcing procurement and construction contracts.
• Experience advising on contract administration, contractor claims, change orders, invoice disputes, cost recovery, and preservation of contractual remedies.
• Familiarity with federal and state laws governing the energy field and with contract lifecycle management systems.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate or assist in the selection, preparation, review, and negotiation of goods, facilities, and service agreements, equipment purchases, facilities leases, construction contracts, and related documents.
• Provide legal support across project lifecycle: procurement strategy, template management, contractor engagement, contract administration, and claims documentation.
• Advise on interpretation, enforcement, and administration of procurement and project contracts to protect the Company.
• Support enforcement of procurement costs, including review of pricing, reimbursements, and invoicing requirements; identify noncompliance and cost recovery opportunities.
• Develop and improve contract governance processes and training for internal stakeholders.
• Provide day-to-day coaching to contract owners and business teams on contracting processes and risk issues.
