• Lead commercial negotiations with global OEMs covering pricing, delivery schedules, warranties, and performance guarantees.
• Coordinate with Legal and Engineering teams on risk allocation, LDs, technical guarantees, and contract interfaces.
• Monitor market trends, supply chain dynamics, lead times, and pricing benchmarks.

Job description

Taylor Hopkinson is seeking a Procurement Manager with experience in BESS in the US for our client which is a global infrastructure investment firm focused on the energy transition, deploying large-scale institutional capital into utility-scale renewable energy assets such as offshore and onshore wind, solar, battery storage, and emerging green fuels like hydrogen. It is active across Europe and North America, with a strong presence in large offshore wind and grid-scale renewable energy investments.

This role is focused on CAPEX procurement for BESS equipment. The position is purely procurement-focused, with responsibility for commercial strategy, supplier engagement, and contract negotiation across a portfolio of projects.

The role reports to the VP Procurement, Americas and works closely with Development, Engineering, Construction, Investment, and Legal teams to ensure procurement strategies align with project timelines, financing requirements, and long-term asset value.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement CAPEX procurement strategies aligned with project development schedules and portfolio priorities
• Lead end-to-end sourcing processes including RFIs, RFPs, bid evaluation, negotiation, and contract award
• Structure procurement approaches under multi-contract models (supply-only / full service, supply & install).
• Lead commercial negotiations with global OEMs covering pricing, delivery schedules, warranties, and performance guarantees
• Identify, evaluate, and manage strategic suppliers across HV equipment
• Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships to ensure supply security and competitiveness
• Lead contracting for supply agreements, service agreements, and relevant framework agreements
• Coordinate with Legal and Engineering teams on risk allocation, LDs, technical guarantees, and contract interfaces
• Analyze project cost structures and drive cost optimization across key packages
• Monitor market trends, supply chain dynamics, lead times, and pricing benchmarks
• Identify and manage procurement risks including delivery risk, supplier concentration, and regulatory exposure
• Support investment processes including input into FID decisions and procurement strategies
• Act as procurement lead for assigned projects, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
• 6-10+ years of experience in procurement, commercial, or contract management roles
• Proven experience in CAPEX procurement within renewable energy
• Experience in BESS procurement is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex sourcing and negotiations for high-value packages
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in risk allocation and contract structuring
• Working understanding of BESS systems
• Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented
• Strong stakeholder management and communications skills
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Commercial judgment and risk-based decision-making
• Ability to balance cost optimization with long-term asset performance
