Job summary

Jobtailor in New Jersey is seeking a senior procurement professional to build and manage vendor relationships across the supply chain. You will negotiate terms, develop sourcing strategies, and ensure supply continuity for energy-related equipment.

The role requires 5+ years in supply chain and strategic sourcing, with strong negotiation skills and the ability to engage engineering on technical matters. MBA is a plus; DER knowledge is beneficial.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of supply chain development and/or strategic sourcing experience.
• Experience vetting vendors for quality and experience.
• Ability to present to and negotiate with local distributors as well as executives.
• Influence internal and external teams with strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving with the ability to identify and manage risks.
• Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including engineering on technical subject matters.
• MBA is a plus.
• Experience with distributed energy resources is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own commercial relationships with equipment vendors, contractors, and other service providers across the supply chain.
• Identify vendors and suppliers with conforming specs, quality controls, and bankable history.
• Negotiate preferred terms and prices with suppliers.
• Develop and implement procurement and sourcing strategies.
• Ensure continuity and availability of supply while managing supply chain risks.
• Collaborate with engineering on technical requirements for energy storage, solar PV, generators, inverters, and related components.
• Coordinate with project delivery to understand construction and engineering needs.
• Engage asset management regarding third-party O&M services.
• Standardize system designs, implementation, and operations with engineering.
• Lead cross-functional issue resolution related to equipment, construction, and operations.
• Identify and implement initiatives to improve procurement process efficiency, including software solutions.
• Report to the Sr Director, Procurement.

• Own commercial relationships with equipment vendors, contractors, and other service providers across the supply chain
• Identify vendors and suppliers with conforming equipment specifications and/or capabilities, appropriate quality controls, and bankable performance history
• Negotiate preferred terms and prices with suppliers
• Develop and implement procurement and sourcing strategies
• Ensure continuity and availability of supply while managing supply chain risks
• Work with engineering to understand technical requirements for battery energy storage, solar PV, generators and generator components, inverters, switchgear, and other balance of system components
• Work with project delivery to understand construction and engineering requirements
• Work with asset management to understand third-party operations and maintenance service requirements
• Work with engineering to standardize system designs, implementation, and operations
• Shepherd internal teams to resolve cross-functional issues related to equipment, construction, and operations
• Identify and execute initiatives to increase procurement process efficiency and effectiveness, including implementing procurement software solutions
• Report to the Sr Director, Procurement

Requirements

• 5+ years of supply chain development and/or strategic sourcing experience
• Experienced vetting vendors for quality and experience
• Comfortable presenting to and negotiating with local distributors as well as high-level executives
• Able to influence internal and external teams, with strong negotiation skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and manage risks
• Able to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including engineering on technical subject matters
• A background in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering is helpful.
• An MBA is a plus
• Experience with distributed energy resources is a plus
