Job summary

• 5+ years in procurement or supply chain, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Experience purchasing raw proteins, ingredients, packaging, and supplies.
• Strong financial and analytical skills; evaluate costs, variances, margins.
• Knowledge of protein markets and food ingredient sourcing desirable.
• Experience with ERP/MRP, forecasting, inventory planning, and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement and sourcing of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and supplies to ensure production and cost control.
• Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance using KPIs on quality, price, service, and delivery.

• Lead procurement planning via demand forecasting, schedules, and inventory analysis.
• Collaborate with Operations, Production, Quality, Finance to align purchasing with demand.
• Use ERP/MRP and purchasing analytics to improve planning and supplier management.

Kinsa is recruiting for a: Procurement Manager

A growing food manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Procurement Manager to lead sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and operational supplies. This role will combine strategic sourcing with day-to-day procurement execution, supplier management, forecasting, inventory planning, and cost reduction while partnering closely with Operations, Production, Quality, Finance, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

• Lead procurement and sourcing of raw proteins, food ingredients, packaging materials, and operational supplies to ensure uninterrupted production and competitive costs.
• Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, and identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining quality, service, and delivery expectations.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance using KPIs focused on quality, pricing, service, responsiveness, delivery, and food safety.
• Monitor protein commodity markets, packaging trends, and supplier conditions while developing alternate sourcing strategies to strengthen supply continuity and reduce risk.
• Lead procurement planning through demand forecasting, production schedules, inventory analysis, and market trends to optimize inventory and minimize shortages, excess materials, and waste.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Production, Quality, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to align purchasing with production requirements, customer demand, and company objectives.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems and purchasing analytics to improve procurement planning, inventory performance, supplier management, and overall purchasing effectiveness.

Competencies Needed for Success:

• 5+ years of progressive procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience, preferably within food manufacturing, meat processing, proteins, prepared foods, and packaging.
• Experience purchasing raw proteins, food ingredients, packaging materials, and operational supplies within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong financial and analytical skills with experience evaluating material costs, purchase price variance, inventory, margins, and cost reduction opportunities.
• Knowledge of protein commodity markets, agricultural supply chains, or food ingredient sourcing is highly desirable.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems, demand forecasting, inventory planning, supplier KPIs, and purchasing analytics.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent directly related experience may be considered.
