Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems, Sterling Heights, MI, seeks a Procurement Buyer responsible for end-to-end purchasing and subcontracting. This role analyzes material needs in Oracle/MRP, solicits supplier RFQs/RFPs/RFIs, and performs cost/price analyses to support sound sourcing decisions.

You will negotiate with suppliers to meet program cost and schedule targets, prepare purchase orders and subcontracts, and ensure on-time delivery while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related business discipline.
• 5–7 years of procurement or buying experience.
• Proficiency with Oracle MRP or other MRP-based purchasing systems.
• Experience in cost and price analysis and formal write-ups.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and program management abilities.
• Solid understanding of procurement processes, systems, and MRP.
• Ability to work in a team and meet objectives under pressure.
• Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end purchasing and subcontracting activities.
• Analyze material needs in Oracle/MRP and evaluate supplier RFQs/RFPs/RFIs.
• Negotiate with suppliers to meet cost and schedule targets.
• Prepare and administer purchase orders and subcontracts.
• Coordinate source selection and ensure quality, design, and payment alignment.
• Ensure on-time delivery while controlling costs.
• Maintain compliance with procurement laws and regulations.
