Job summary

Smithfield Foods in the United States seeks a detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to manage the clerical heartbeat of our purchasing department, handling requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor communications. You'll maintain tracking systems, support the receiving and billing teams, and foster strong supplier relationships to keep orders moving from request to delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• APICS Certification preferred.
• Excellent written communications skills.
• Knowledge of UNIX application (SAP), Internet and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of inventory control by running accurate reports and ensuring essential paper supplies are always in stock.
• Manage Plant Purchase Orders by opening and entering them promptly to support the receiving and billing teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Partner with vendors to resolve order issues, verify pricing, track deliveries and secure proof of delivery.
• Take on new and special projects assigned by management to improve processes and drive results.
