Job summary

Teachers Federal Credit Union is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to initiate and process purchase orders, manage stock levels and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. This role supports financial and operational goals by maintaining accurate procurement records and collaborating with internal teams.

Responsibilities include monitoring inventory, negotiating with vendors, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with purchasing guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• One year general work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of purchasing processes preferred.
• Understanding of vendor and supplier relationships preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Well organized with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchase orders.
• Maintain stock levels and forward approved orders to suppliers.
• Place service calls on fixed assets (water coolers, coffee machines, printers, copiers).
• Research and select suitable suppliers for stock and ad hoc purchases.
• Request cost proposals and negotiate pricing for favorable terms.
• Maintain records of transactions, purchase orders and receipts.
• Prepare reports and maintain inventory and procurement records.
• Prepare expense reports for purchases on company credit cards.
• Track and resolve purchasing and inventory discrepancies.
• Build long-term relationships with suppliers.
